During a speech to the BBC, Pat Cash was lapidary about Jannik Sinner and the Wimbledon final against Carlos Alcaraz: “When Jannik is in form he is truly untouchable”.

“Carlos Alcaraz started well in the final, but then when he left a few openings for Sinner there was no match. I think that is the substantial difference between the two, Jannik never gives up while Carlos is more swinging” said the winner of the 1987 edition of Wimbledon.

At TNT Sports, Nick Kyrgios inserted a third wheel between Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner: “I don&#8220t see anyone in the top five in the rankings who can make it. Maybe someone on the outside, like Taylor Fritz. He&#8217s the only one who has put pressure on. Ben Shelton was crushed on the court by Sinner in three sets in the quarterfinals. He was someone we thought would have a chance. At 21 you are not so young anymore because these guys are winning Slams at that’age”.
