Samuele Privitera, the moving memory of Giovanni Visconti

Giovanni Visconti

Giovanni Visconti posted on social media a touching remembrance of Samuele Privitera, the very young 19-year-old cyclist who died tragically at the Giro della Valle d’Aosta. Here are the words of the three-time Italian champion and winner of two stages at the Giro d’Italia.

“It was a February morning, we were in Donoratico. I was a bit bewildered, I was re-entering cycling after 3 years and difficult times. By the way, only English was spoken there, and even that made everything more difficult…”

“Then you came along with that smile and “Oh Visco!” You were the first runner to approach me and welcome me to start my new adventure as a Talent Scout in the GreenEDGE family.”

“I didn’t know you very well but you made me feel part of the group right away. You started talking to me as if we had known each other all our lives with that way of yours that is reserved only for great people, good souls.”

“You always involved everyone in your talks and in one way or another you immediately left ‘something’ for those who knew you. This shot you asked me for: ‘oh come on Visco, let’s send a selfie to Lomba so he can send us some dunks’.”

“When they called me last night to ask if I knew you I said that anyone who lived you even for 10 minutes knows who YOU ARE. Rest in Peace Samuel.”
