In the meeting between Sassuolo players and staff with Neroverdi fans, scheduled for Saturday in Piazza San Giovanni in Fondo (Trento, Italy), a few kilometers from the site of the summer retreat, there will in all likelihood not be Armand Laurienté: the Frenchman, top scorer of the last victorious Serie B, is in fact close to a transfer to Sunderland, newly promoted to the Premier League, in exchange for 20 million euros.

The Emilia club has already set out to look for a replacement: as reported by ‘Sky Sport‘, it has identified two main profiles, that of Tajon Buchanan, who returned to Inter after a season on loan at Villarreal, and that of Alessio Zerbin, at Napoli since 2022 but on loan at Monza first and then Venezia in the last two seasons.

The goal of the Neroverde club is to give coach Fabio Grosso an attacking outfielder who will not make Laurientè, who distinguished himself even before the season in B also in the top division, with 12 goals in A between 2022 and 2024, regret too much. For this reason, Sassuolo’s management immediately decided to knock on the doors of Inter and Napoli, sounding out the availability of Buchanan and Zerbin.

Canadian international born in 1999, Tajon Buchanan boasts 16 Serie A appearances with Inter Milan, with a goal scored against Frosinone in the 2023-2024 league final. Alessio Zerbin, the Canadian’s peer, on the other hand, comes from a season that began as a reserve at Napoli and finished as a starter at Venezia, although his performances were not enough for the lagoon club to stay in A.
