Saturday without a medal for Gregorio Paltrinieri at the ongoing World Cross-Country Swimming Championships in Singapore. The champion from Carpi finished fourth in the 3 Km-KO Sprint elimination, won by Germany’s Florian Welbrock, his third gold in three races.

“It was a tough race, the one that suits me the least. It took me a straight 500 meters to get back to the top. The start is my weak point, I had put myself sideways so I wouldn&#8221t take a beating,&#8221 are Paltrinieri&#8221s words reported by Gazzetta dello Sport. “My finger hurt less and fortunately the bandage did not come off”.

Celebrating instead is Ginevra Taddeucci, on her third silver medal in three competitions. L’Azzurra finished second in the 3-kilometer sprint elimination, behind Japan&#8217s Ichika Kajimoto and ahead of 5- and 10-kilometer world champion Moesha Johnson.

Geneva appeared stunned after the race: “Even I would not have imagined I was worth the podium”.
