Atalanta, official the'farewell to Matteo Retegui: goes to the'Al-Qadsiah

Atalanta soccer market: Mateo Retegui is leaving Bergamo and Serie A as the reigning top scorer of the Italian top league. His transfer to Saudi Arabia, in fact defined already since the beginning of July, became official on Monday with the orbico club bidding farewell to the striker also on the Italian national team’s roster, who becomes a player of the’Al-Qadsiah.

In the communiqué in which the’transaction is made official, the Nerazzurri spend sweet words for a player who wore their jersey for only one season. Sufficient, however, for Retegui to graduate as said Serie A top scorer, the first Atalanta player to do so since Filippo Inzaghi (1996-’97) but with one more goal than his emblazoned predecessor (25 versus 24).

“Purchased from Genoa at the beginning of August 2024 – recalls Antonio Percassi’s club -, Mateo Retegui found in Atalanta and Bergamo the ideal conditions and environment to play his best season in his career, from the point of view of goals and more. After a year, the decision was made to try a new professional experience that will take him to play in the Saudi Pro League, in Saudi Arabia, with the jersey of Al-Qadsiah, to which Atalanta BC definitively sold the right to the sports performance of the 26-year-old Italian-Argentinian striker”.

“The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family and the whole Nerazzurri club sincerely thank Mateo for his extraordinary contribution last season and wish him all the best for the continuation of his sporting career and for his future”, is Atalanta’s last farewell to Retegui.
