Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune is not impressed: clear message

Respect yes, but no sense of inferiority: Holger Rune in an interview with Tennis.com talked about Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, emphasizing how he does not feel so far from the two current rulers of the ATP rankings, winners of the last seven Grand Slam tournaments. “The difference between them and some players is very wide, but not so big with others. I think I am not that far off; my tennis level is very high, and I just need to correct some aspects and be more consistent”.
Rune has beaten Sinner before, and he believes he can do it again: “I have already proven that I can beat the best, and that gives me the confidence to believe that I can do it again. There’s a difference between beating them occasionally and being in the finals of major tournaments every week. That is my goal now”.
His new coach is André Agassi: “I contacted him a few months ago. I could see that he is a very intelligent person and has a unique and genuine way of interpreting the game. I think it is the ideal time to start working with him because I feel good again with my tennis”.
Rune, once considered a future big at the level of Sinner and Alcaraz, made mea culpa for the last few complicated years: “I have changed coaches several times lately, and that is not good, I stopped following one pattern. André is a true icon and I believe he can guide me in the right way”.
