The 2025-2026 Serie A begins with a resounding strike

The editorial assembly of RaiSport has decided to go on strike on Sunday, Aug. 24, during the first day of the Serie A championship, in protest against the editorial plan of newly appointed director Paolo Petrecca. La Repubblica reports.
The editors, according to rumors, may decide on additional days of mobilization on Sept. 2 and 5, for the men’s European basketball championship and when Gennaro Gattuso’s Italy will make its debut against Estonia.
In the past few days, mediation had been sought to avoid the lockout, without success. “As previously communicated to the entire Editorial Staff, on July 14 last year the RaiSport CoR and the Milan Trust met with representatives of the Company to carry out the attempt at conciliation regarding the state of agitation and the three-day strike package established by the RaiSport Assembly. The confrontation resulted in a negative outcome. For this reason, the RaiSport Assembly has decided that the first of the three days of strike will be Sunday, Aug. 24,” is the newsroom statement.
