When Lorenzo Musetti plays in Washington: background against Cameron Norrie

After the physical problems that prevented him from playing to his full potential in the Roland Garros semifinals against Carlos Alcaraz and the surprise elimination at Wimbledon in the first round at the hands of Nikoloz Basilashvili, Lorenzo Musetti will test himself again in Washington, immediately facing a level-headed opponent, Cameron Norrie.
The match between the Italian, world No. 7, and the Briton who currently occupies the No. 41 position (but has also been in the Top 10 in the recent past) will be staged, as scheduled, on the John Harris Dedicated Court no earlier than 8 p.m. Italian time, 2 p.m. in the U.S. capital. The match will be televised on Sky Sports and streamed on NOW.
Musetti and Norrie have faced each other only twice other times on the main circuit, with the Carrara-born player winning on both occasions: in the round of 16 at the Barcelona tournament in 2023, Musetti prevailed in a comeback, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, while at Roland Garros the same year the victory was easier, with the blue player able to win 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.
In the first round of the Washington tournament, Norrie defeated another Briton, Billy Harris (No. 148 ATP) 6-3, 7-6(4) in an hour and 42 minutes of play. Musetti, on the other hand, was able to skip the opening round, taking advantage of a ‘bye’ thanks to being among the sixteen seeds, specifically the number 2 seed.
