Italbasket, mosaic has one less piece: Gianmarco Pozzecco explains the'exclusion

The journey of the Italian men’s national basketball team toward EuroBasket began Wednesday with the gathering in Folgaria that kicks off the summer training camp. Compared to the summonses issued by technical commissioner Gianmarco Pozzecco, there is no Dame Sarr: the guard class of 2006 has in fact received the’authorization to leave the Azzurri training camp.

“Dame is a boy we are counting on a lot for the present and the future. I have decided that to guarantee him the best path this summer he will not be with us – Pozzecco pointed out. We will undoubtedly find him again on other occasions. In the meantime, today we start a fascinating path toward the European Championship with confidence and desire to be together”.

There are therefore 14 elements at the coach’s disposal in these days in Folgaria: they are Marco Spissu, Stefano Tonut, Nicolò Melli, Giampaolo Ricci, Matteo Spagnolo, Gabriele Procida, Saliou Niang, Giordano Bortolani, Guglielmo Caruso, Momo Diouf, Riccardo Rossato, Luca Severini, Nicola Akele and Alessandro Pajola.

Three absentees, however: Simone Fontecchio and Donte DiVincenzo, the latter highly anticipated after’obtaining citizenship in recent days, will be available from next July 30, while Danilo Gallinari will join the Azzurro group when he finishes his commitment with the Vaqueros de Bayamón, in the Puerto Rican league.
