Ballacanestro Trieste has announced an NBA hit: it is Jahmi’us Ramsey, a 191 cm American guard born in 2001, who has signed a contract for the next sports season with the white-and-red club.

Ramsey is a modern guard, a pure scorer capable of scoring at three levels and constantly creating advantages for teammates. Blessed with a powerful physique and disruptive athleticism, he is a player who attacks the basket with a strength and control that make him a puzzle for opposing defenses. His offensive talents are not limited to penetrations: Ramsey is a level-headed perimeter shooter, an “elite shooter” capable of scoring with 37 percent from the arc in his last G-League season, which ended with a 20-point average.

“We are extremely proud to welcome Jahmi’us Ramsey to our family– said President Paul Matiasic – Bringing to Trieste a talent of this caliber, a player that the NBA world has chosen and tested, is a strong and clear signal of our ambition to compete at the highest level and to excite our fans. The arrival of Jahmi’us is not an isolated action, but the perfect fit of another valuable piece in the mosaic we are composing with vision and strategy. We are building a team with a definite identity based on talent, character and ambition. I have watched with great interest for a couple of d’years Jahmi’us talent in the G League and the NBA in the United States, and I have long wanted to see him on the court with us in Italy. The resilience he has shown in his career fits perfectly with the work culture and determination that are the pillars of the Red and White organization. His work ethic is a guarantee of an athlete who is never satisfied, but seeks in every way to improve personally and grow the entire group”.

“Jahmi’us is a player we have been following and admiring for a long time – the words of general manager Michael Arcieri -. His mix of character, talent, athleticism and versatility is extraordinary. His ability to penetrate at any time to force the defense to collapse and put great pressure on the iron is elite level. He is a three-tiered scorer, capable of being dangerous both playing off the ball in the guard or small wing spots and acting as a primary play maker in the booth. From any position, he is an excellent facilitator for teammates, thanks to his ability to create space off the dribble and constantly draw defenses’attention to himself. In the defensive half of the court, his strength, size and speed allow him to mark multiple roles, as well as have a decisive impact on our ability to capture rebounds and play in transition. Although he is still a very young talent, close to reaching his ‘prime,’ he has already played at the highest level showing tremendous potential. His character, work ethic and competitiveness fit perfectly with the culture and environment we strive to cultivate on a daily basis; these characteristics will only further enhance an already cohesive locker room and club. We are thrilled to welcome Jahmi’us and his family into our big red and white family and give him the warmest welcome hug in Trieste!””.

Considered one of the best prospects in his class nationally and named co-MVP of the prestigious Ballislife All-American Game in 2019 , Jahmi’us confirmed his status in his unique, explosive college season with the Texas Tech Red Raiders (2019-2020). There, alongside Davide Moretti, he was the team’s leading scorer with a 15-point average, being awarded Big 12 Freshman of the Year and named to the All-Conference Second Team. His path then continued into professionalism with a call-up to the 2020 NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings.

His experience in the top league includes a total of 39 appearances accumulated with the Sacramento Kings and Toronto Raptors jerseys in the 2020-2021 and 2023-2024 seasons. It was in the NBA G League, however, that Ramsey established himself as a leader, reaching his peak in the 2023-24 season: here he dragged the Oklahoma City Blue to victory in the NBA G League Championship, maintaining an average of more than 20 points per game and earning him inclusion on the All-NBA G League Third Team.

The NBA G League has been a great place for Ramsey.
