The Dolomiti Energia Trentino announced that it has reached a two-year agreement with Matas Jogela, a Lithuanian forward born in 1998. Jogela arrives in Trento after an international career that has seen him starring between Lithuania and Spain, with experience in the EuroCup and Basketball Champions League.

A 201 cm by 90 kg wing, Matas is a dangerous shooter both from the 6.75 arc and from mid-range, effective in different situations: from the dribble, coming off the blocks or spot-up. He knows how to attack the iron by exploiting mismatches and punishing opponents’ closeouts.

Born on July 10, 1998 in Tauragė (Lithuania), he grew up in the youth ranks of Rytas Vilnius, with which he also participated in the Adidas Next Generation Tournament (Euroleague youth tournament) in 2016. He then moved to Zalgiris Kaunas, where he played for three seasons with the satellite team engaged in the Lithuanian second league, gaining experience and continuity.

In 2018-19 he makes his debut in the Lithuanian top league with Dzukija Alytus: in 18 minutes of average he produces 7.4 points and 4 rebounds per game. From 2019 to 2023 he wears the jersey of Neptunas Klaipeda, a club with which he also plays in the Basketball Champions League and reaches the national playoffs three times. In his last season with Neptunas he averaged 12.8 points and 5 rebounds, shooting 49% from two and 36.3% from three: numbers that earned him the call of Rio Breogan in Liga ACB, Spain’s top league, with which he also plays in the Basketball Champions League. In his Spanish experience he closes with 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds average between the league and the European Cup.

In 2023-24 he returns to Lithuania to wear the BC Wolves jersey coached by Coach Magro, taking part for the first time in the EuroCup – a competition in which he also faces Dolomiti Energia Trentino. Against the bianconeri he is a protagonist both in the first leg (10 points, 12 rebounds and 3 assists) and in the return at the “Il T Quotidiano Arena” (14 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists). He ends the season nearing double-figure averages with 9.5 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists, shooting 52 percent from two and 43 percent from three.
