Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori also won the Washington ATP 500 tournament, winning the doubles final against Hugo Nys of Monaco and Edouard Roger-Vasselin of France in two sets. The Azzurri, who in doing so captured their seventh title since they have been a pair, prevailed in two sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4 after just over an hour and a quarter of play.

Bolelli and Vavassori begin the match controlling operations quite easily, in particular not allowing their opponents any opportunities to be able to overtake them when it is the two Italians’ own turn to serve. The first set is then decided exactly when the Italian pair manages to win a break, which makes it 4-2 in a game in which the decisive point comes on the third attempt.

Won the set in a little more than half an hour, Bolelli and Vavassori need a few more minutes in the next set, which, however, begins decidedly downhill. This time the break comes in as early as the first game, with Nys and Roger-Vasselin succumbing by putting up only two points. Their comeback not only does not come but is not even sketched out, as the Italian pair does not even have to face a break ball from their opponents closing the accounts without further headaches.

For Simone Bolelli and Andrea Vavassori this is as mentioned the seventh success in the final of a doubles tournament, after Buenos Aires, Halle and Beijing in 2024 and Adelaide, Rotterdam and Hamburg in the course of this season.
