NBA: Jokic in tears over a win but basketball has nothing to do with it

Nikola Jokic is one of the best basketball players in the history of the game. Three-time MVP, he won the NBA title with the Denver Nuggets in 2023. An outstanding achievement that the Serbian celebrated in a decidedly sober manner, counting down the minutes until he returned home.

The 30-year-old Serbian is like that: take it or leave it. A quintessential antagonist, he has a different lifestyle from all the other NBA All Stars. However, Nikola Jokic also has his own personal weakness: horses. Always a horse lover, he experienced a special moment in his life in Subotica, Serbia.

The victory of one of his horses has, literally, exalted him to the highest power. Bursting into tears, the Serbian rode onto the track and hugged his jockey, before opening unrestrained bottles of champagne to celebrate the victory.

The Serbian rider was in the middle of the race.

A wild celebration, in complete antithesis to his very moderate satisfaction after winning the NBA’ring in 2023. Then, to the general amazement, he limited himself to these words in the post-Game 5 interview against the Miami Heat: “The job has been done, now we can go home”. Partly because of this unique style of his, Nikola Jokic is one of the most beloved characters in the NBA&#8217s universe. His heart, however, belongs to horse racing.
