Thomas Ceccon, worrying outburst after bronze medal

Thomas Ceccon struck his second medal in two days at the ongoing World Swimming Championships in Singapore: the Italian swimmer took bronze in the 50 butterfly, also signing the Italian record.
At RAI microphones, Ceccon described his emotions: “First, second, third, then in a year who remembers if you won or lost? I mean: did I win today? Good. A month from now who remembers that I won or came third? We kind of do it for ourselves at the end, because only we then really remember what we did. I have some thoughts right now”.
.
The Olympic champion, however, said he was very pleased with his performance: “I am happy with the podium in such a fast race, it was not to be taken for granted, and a one-two finish like that within 20 minutes maybe a couple of people in the world can do it and I am one of them, I should just be happy”.
