Ballacanestro Trieste made official on Monday morning the arrival of Pietro Iannuzzi, a 2006 class guard who won the gold medal at EuroBasket U20 last July 20 with the national category team led by coach Alessandro Rossi. Iannuzzi comes from the youth sector of Reyer Venezia, where he also wore the first team jersey.

“Welcoming Pietro Iannuzzi to the Trieste Basketball family in biancorosso means embracing the future – explained Paul Matiasic, patron of Pallacanestro Trieste -. First of all, I would like to congratulate him on behalf of the entire club for the extraordinary European title won with the national team; bringing a European Champion to Trieste is a source of great pride”.

“In Pietro– added Matiasic – we saw not only a talent, but a player who embodies the values we want at the core of our project: defensive intensity, basketball intelligence and a total dedication to the team. His work ethic and his mentality of ‘glue’ are exactly what we look for in an athlete to represent our colors and the spirit of the city of Trieste”.

“Although he is very young, he has already tasted senior basketball at the highest level with Reyer, demonstrating an uncommon maturity and work ethic– added the biancorosso general manager, Michael Arcieri. “We are convinced that our ‘player development’ program is the ideal environment to allow him to unlock his enormous potential. His character and hunger for victory fit perfectly into the culture we are building”.
