Marc Marquez, Ducati stunned by'effect on marketing: "With Valentino Rossi it was different"

Ducati global marketing director Patrizia Cianetti in an interview with Marca spoke about the’incredible impact that Marc Marquez has had since his arrival in the Borgo Panigale factory team. “Marc Márquez has an ability to attract attention and incredible visibility”.
“He is very popular in many countries, certainly in the Asian market, but not only there. He is also good at communicating, and that generates a very great ability to attract and talk to Ducatists. His presence has had a very positive contribution”.
“Then, the direct relationship between racing and sales is not proven. There was a law that said, ‘Win on Sunday and sell on Monday’ but it is not true. Investing in the world of sports is a medium- and long-term investment. It is an investment in the passion for the brand, the ability to attract new people, build a relationship and ultimately sell them a motorcycle. But Marc Márquez’s impact is extremely positive. He is very good, very popular, there are countries where his presence is significant, so it is very positive”.
The comparison with Valentino Rossi’s landing in 2012: “Those were very different times. Let’s say that the experience with Valentino was a bit’unique. It was something very complex, actually. But today’s company is very different, today’s Ducati is the best ever, and it’s beloved by the fans. The products are extraordinary, the quality is incredible. It is a very different package; therefore, the current set-up is much better”.
