Ferrari: one step closer to a decision on Frederic Vasseur’s future

Ferrari continues to bet on Frederic Vasseur. As Formula 1 draws ever closer to its summer break, which will start after the Hungarian Grand Prix scheduled for next Sunday, Maranello is preparing to confirm its team principal. In fact, his contract is currently expiring at the end of 2025, but the extension would be a step away.
This is reported ‘La Stampa’ according to which this season’s difficulties would not put the transalpine manager’s post in question. Vasseur is therefore preparing to make his stay at the Cavallino official, with Ferrari having set itself a deadline of Sept. 7 at Monza for the Italian Grand Prix d’Italy to verbalize everything.
This date should come as no surprise, since it has always constituted the pivotal date when Ferrari defines its organizational chart for the following season in case there are still pawns of uncertain placement. Memorable in this sense what happened in 2006, when precisely in Monza occurred the’announcement of Michael Schumacher’s retirement and the simultaneous arrival of Kimi Raikkonen to take his place.
Vasseur is expected to sign a contract with Ferrari valid for the 2026 Formula 1 season only. According to ‘La Stampa’, the first championship after the change of regulations on single-seaters and engines could prove decisive for his longer-term confirmation. Also important is the contribution that will be given to Ferrari by new technical director Loic Serra, who arrived from Mercedes and for the first time will be in charge of the design of a Maranello car from start to finish.
