Lucia Bronzetti leaves the WTA 1000 tournament in Montreal already in the second round. The challenge with Clara Tauson, number 19 on the world circuit, was too uphill, and in fact she got the better of the Rimini native in about an hour and a quarter of play. It ended in two sets, with the result 6-1, 6-2.

Bronzetti starts well, even snatching a break point from the fearsome Danish opponent already during the first game. Tauson, however, nullified it and instead took advantage of the first opportunity created by the blue player in both the fourth and sixth games. In the end, as many as five consecutive games will be won by the strong Scandinavian.

Luccia Bronzetti’s nightmare continued in the second set as well, with Tauson able to string five more consecutive games thus taking a 5-0 lead. Unfortunately belated the Romagnola’s redemption, who thanks to her only break of the match claws the 1-5 and then conquers the 2-5 on her service turn. The following game was the decisive one, however, with the Dane closing the score on her third match point.

Lucia Bronzetti, number 66 on the WTA circuit, had clinched the chance to face Clara Tauson by getting the better of wild card Elizabeth Mandilik in the previous round in Montreal at the end of three intense sets and nearly two and a half hours of effort.
