One break decides the first set, and it is in favor of Musetti, who does so in the fourth game on the only break point of the entire partial. No break in the second set, Michelsen saves a break ball in the first game and Lorenzo two consecutive ones in the eighth. In the tie-break the U.S. leads operations and wins it 7-4.

The third set is the most eventful: Musetti goes up 2-0 but gets overrun at 4-2 missing four break points, including three consecutive, to go him up 3-1. Michelsen saves a break point on 4-3, misses two match points on 5-3, goes to serve for the match, Musetti nullifies four more match points, the first three consecutive, misses two break points and finally on the seventh match point he has to surrender.
