Chiara Consonni gets unblocked in Poland and doesn’t hide her happiness
At the first stage of the Tour de Pologne comes the first road victory in 2025 for Chiara Consonni: the Italian sprinter of Canyon-SRAM Zondacrypto in fact conquers the sprint success in the opening stage of the Polish race, a 105.6 km circuit with starting and finishing point in Zamosc. Consonni, who sprinted ahead of France’s Copponi and Austria’s Schweinberger, also wears the first yellow jersey of this edition.
2This is my first Tour de Pologne and I am really happy to race here – Consonni explained, not hiding his satisfaction at all -. I had never been here before, the people are so nice, sociable and cheerful: I almost feel like I am at home. There were so many fans along the streets cheering us on, the atmosphere was great”.
“It is also my first road win of the season and my first with the team, which makes me incredibly happy – explains again the blue athlete, who in 2025 had achieved another success, but at the European Track Championships in the team pursuit -. We were pretty sure that this stage would end in a bunch sprint, but in cycling you never know. We worked well as a team, kept the race under control and close to the breakaway, and then I gave everything in the sprint to reach my goal”.
“When I saw the 100-meter sign, I started the sprint, and to cross the finish line first was an incredible feeling. Today everything went as I had hoped. Now we will see what we can do in the next two stages, but for now I enjoy the moment” concluded Chiara Consonni, who on the road has not won since the second stage of Giro 2024, the one with the finish in Volta Mantovana.
