Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 6 p.m., Zurich’s Letzigrund Stadium will host the friendly between Grasshoppers and Bayern Munich. For the hosts, it will be a test in the midst of the Swiss league, which so far has been lackluster for Gerald Scheiblehner’s team. For the Bavarians, on the other hand, it will be the last engagement of the preseason, before the official date with the German Super Cup against Stuttgart, scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 16, at 8:30 p.m.

The Grasshoppers have already played the first three days of the championship, picking up only one point, the result of an away draw against Servette. Previously came two league defeats (against Lucerne and Basel) and other friendly losses against West Ham and Celta Vigo. A positive result against Bayern, albeit in an unofficial match, could restore confidence to the team, led by the 48-year-old Austrian coach.

For Bayern, the one in Zurich will be the final match of an atypical summer preparation, since last season ended only on July 7, with the elimination in the quarterfinals of the World Club Championship against PSG. In their last outings, the Germans beat Lyon (2-1) and Tottenham (4-0). The squad has been strengthened with the arrival in defense of Jonathan Tah (former Bayer Leverkusen) and in attack of Luis Díaz (former Liverpool), called up to replace the injured Musiala. On the way out, weighty goodbyes such as those of Thomas Müller and Leroy Sané.

Probable lineups:

Grasshoppers (3-4-3): Hammel; Abels, Paloschi, Decarli; Marques, Hassane, Zvonarek, Stroscio; Plange, Muci, Asp Jensen.
All. Scheiblehner

Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Laimer, Upamecano, Tah, Stanisic; Kimmich, Goretzka; Olise, Gnabry, Díaz; Kane.
All. Kompany
