No World Cup for Kelly Doualla

Despite the concrete possibility of being part of the women’s 4×100 relay at the World Athletics Championships to be held in Tokyo in September, Kelly Doualla has decided not to participate in the rainbow event. This was confirmed by the Italian Athletics Federation through a note published on Tuesday.
“Coach Walter Monti, trainer of sprinter Kelly Doualla (winner of two gold medals at the European Junior Championships held last week in Tampere) informed FIDAL top management today of his desire to renounce a possible inclusion of the athlete in the Italian team that will take part in the World Championships in Tokyo” reads the note.
“Monti has expressed the intention of the athlete, the Doualla family and his staff, to federal president Stefano Mei” still explains the Federation, which takes note of the decision of the athlete, 16 years old yet to be completed, who is living a starring summer, beating athletes at the Under 20 level and surpassing national records in the category in speed races.
The time of 11.21 in the 100-meter dash, clocked at the Under-20 European Championships where she won gold (matching that in the 4×100), is the best European Under-18 performance, as well as a national record in the junior and junior categories. It is also the third all-time Italian performance, preceded only by those of Zaynab Dosso and Manuela Levorato.
