An angry Anna Kalinskaya was defeated in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Tournament by world number three Iga Swiatek: the Russian tennis player was beaten in two sets with the scores of 6-3, 6-4.

For the Pole, in her third consecutive semifinal in Cincinnati, a disciplined match against the Muscovite, who appeared tired after her last matches and held back by a calf problem, was enough. And even before the match, Jannik Sinner’s former girlfriend had complained about the tournament scheduling, which she said penalized some athletes.

“How can the WTA and the tournament expect athletes to perform at their best if the scheduling is so unfair? After my match against Alexandrova I got home at 2:40 a.m. and didn’t go to bed until 4. And so I had to face a match at 11″, she wrote on Instagram.

“How do the WTA and the tournament expect me to continuously recover and readjust my sleep pattern, which is one of the most important aspects of physical recovery?”.
