“One of the greatest Italian sportsmen all time, destined to become the greatest ever. Happy birthday Jannik Sinner”. Fabrizio Biasin, a well-known journalist who has a huge number of followers, thus celebrated the South Tyrolean, who on Saturday blew out 24 candles.

The statement, predictably, sparked a heated debate, and not only among those who follow the competent Lombard. For months now, there has been talk of the possibility that the world’s No. 1 tennis player could become the greatest Italian sportsman ever. According to some, indeed, he already is.

With his recent success at Wimbledon, Sinner has reached four Grand Slam titles: in addition to the Championships, in fact, l’Azzurro has won two Australian Opens (2024 and 2025) and one Us Open (2024). In his career he also boasts one ATP Finals success, four Masters 1000 titles, and 11 trophies between ATP 500 and ATP 250.

The South Tyrolean champion, at the top of the ATP rankings since June 10, 2024, has reached 60 weeks at the top of the world rankings. In his sights are such champions as Stefan Edberg (72), Lleyton Hewitt (80), Andre Agassi (101) and Bjon Borg (109).
