Jannik Sinner finds himself without a partner for the U.S. Open mixed doubles tournament, scheduled at Flushing Meadows on Tuesday, Aug. 19 and Wednesday, Aug. 20.

In fact, organizers have announced the forfeit of Emma Navarro, designated partner of the world No. 1 who was announced on social media as having entered next week’s WTA 500 in Monterrey. No official reasons were given.

If Sinner wants to stay in the event that puts up $1 million per pair, he will have to find a new partner and announce her name by 2 p.m. local time on Sunday, Aug. 17.

The tournament, meanwhile, has already recorded other illustrious defections: Paula Badosa and Tommy Paul forfeited, forcing Jessica Pegula and Jack Draper – left without a partner – to team up together. An arrangement that simplified the organizers’ work and, at the same time, opened the door for another Italian pair: Jasmine Paolini and Lorenzo Musetti, admitted to the main draw thanks to their ranking.
