Pippo Baudo has died: farewell to one of the kings of Italian TV

He’s died at the age of 89, Pippo Baudo, one of the kings of Italian TV. The historic anchorman passed away in the evening of Saturday, Aug. 16, in Rome, learns l’ANSA: the news was confirmed by his longtime attorney and fraternal friend, lawyer Giorgio Assumma. On social media there were immediate condolences and tributes to one of the best-known faces of Italian television.
Pippo Baudo hosted thirteen Sanremo festivals between 1968 and 2008 (an absolute record) and dozens of highly successful programs, from Canzonissima to Domenica in, from Fantastico to Novecento.
During his six-decade career, he discovered great talents, influencing multiple generations. Married for years to opera singer Katia Ricciarelli, he has two children from two previous partners.
