The injury suffered by Rafa Leao in his season debut in the Coppa Italia against Bari seems less serious than expected. The Portuguese, after unlocking the score, was substituted for a right calf strain.
At the time of the goal and subsequent jubilation nothing foreshadowed what happened a minute later, when the’former Lille sent the ball off the field and required medical attention.
Leao appeared visibly limp, even during the recovery, watched from the bench, but some optimism seeps out ahead of the league’s debut with Cremonese.
Massimiliano Allegri’s deputy, Marco Landucci, commented as follows in the postgame: “Leao went out due to discomfort and we did not want to risk it, we will see in the coming days what the exams”.
