US Open 2025 draw: the opponents of Jannik Sinner and the Italians

The draw ceremony for the US Open 2025 main draw, the last Slam tournament of the tennis season, was held. Eyes were mainly on world number one Jannik Sinner and his main rival Carlos Alcaraz, who will try to face each other again in the finals for the fifth consecutive tournament in which they both participate.
The world number one Blue will debut against Czech Vit Kopriva, world number 87 who has never made it past the first round at Flushing Meadows in the past. Sinner then on his way could meet Australia’s Alexei Popyrin, Canada’s Denis Shapovalov and in the round of 16 one of Tommy Paul or Alexander Bublik.
If he makes it to the quarterfinals there could be a confrontation with Lorenzo Musetti, although a challenge to world number 5 Jack Draper is more likely, while in the semifinals the number one candidate is Alexander Zverev.
Carlos Alcaraz will have a tricky opener against Reilly Opelka, and he is in the same part of the draw as Daniil Medvedev, Ben Shelton, Novak Djokovic and Taylor Fritz.
The other Azzurri: Lorenzo Musetti will make his debut against Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, while Lorenzo Sonego will face Tristan Schoolkate, Matteo Arnaldi with Francisco Cerundolo, Luca Nardi with Tomas Machac, Mattia Arnaldi with China’s Shang Juncheng, and Luciano Darderi with Australia’s Rinky Hijikata.
