When Carlos Alcaraz plays at the US Open: background with Reilly Opelka

Carlos Alcaraz begins the U.S. Open with two big goals on the horizon: to win his second tournament at Flushing Meadows after the one in 2022 and to snatch Jannik Sinner’s number one spot in the ATP rankings. However, the Murcia champion will have to focus on the immediate present, and on his next opponent in particular: Reilly Opelka.
For the Spanish outfielder, the match with the U.S. world number 67 presents some pitfalls: if he is on his day on serve, the American could put the Iberian, who is coming from the exertions of Cincinnati, in a difficult position.
The early rounds are the most treacherous for Alcaraz, who in the last US Open surprisingly lost in the second game to Botic van de Zandschulp.
Alcaraz and Opelka have never faced each other before.
The challenge is scheduled for tonight at 2:10 a.m. (Italian time) at the earliest. The winner will face one of Bellucci or Shang in the second round.
