U.S. Open, Flavio Cobolli wins after four and a half hours and gets the derby with Lorenzo Musetti

Flavio Cobolli, world number 26, beats after more than four and a half hours the U.S. Jenson Brooksby, number 92, with a score of 6-7 6-3 6-4 2-6 7-6 in the second round match of the U.S. Open men’s singles on the concrete at Flushing Meadows.
Cobolli misses a break point in the second game of the match, then he suffers it at 1-1, saves two 1-4 and one 2-5 balls and instead manages to counterbreak and reach Brooksby at 4-4. Unfortunately, Flavius breaks serve again at 5-5 after nullifying three break points, and shortly afterwards the first set as well.
Brooksby immediately breached Cobolli in the first game of the second set and then went to 2-0, but the blue turned the situation around by winning five games in a row by twice snatching the serve from the home favorite and then at 5-3 with serve at his disposal he had no problem to even the set count.
Flavio saves two break points in the second and one in the fourth game of the third set, then on 4-4 to break his opponent and immediately afterwards takes the lead in the overall set tally by holding serve to zero, but in the fourth set from 2-2 Cobolli loses four games in a row and thus goes to the deciding set.
The last partial starts in the best way for Cobolli who immediately makes the break, on 3-1 Brooksby recovers from 0-40 saving three double break balls, also the 23-year-old Italian however on 4-3 has to come up from 0-40 and cancel a fourth counterbreak ball.
On 5-4 Flavio serves for the match and also has two match points but loses his serve and the match is decided at the super tie-break that fortunately is dominated by Cobolli already with an early 4-0 lead and then ended on 10-3.
Four hours and 32 minutes was the duration of the match with Cobolli once again proving to be a great fighter. In the third round he will face Lorenzo Musetti, clear winner this afternoon over Belgian David Goffin.
