Jannik Sinner, new girlfriend’s photo pops up on cell phone

Just before the start of the U.S. Open Jannik Sinner had let slip a detail about his private life: “I am in love” he had confessed with a smile, except immediately curbing curiosity by adding: “But I don’t want to talk about it”. Measured words, as per his style, which, however, did not extinguish the fans’ curiosity.

Because, sometimes, you don’t need official statements: small clues are enough, seemingly random details that end up telling more than any interview. This is what happened after the complicated match he won against Denis Shapovalov. At the end of the match, upon checking his phone, a photograph revealed what Sinner had chosen not to say verbally: the background of his cell phone clearly showed the face of a girl. A quick snap, stolen by the cameras, but enough to trigger comments.

That girl is not an unfamiliar face. She is Laila Hasanovic, a Danish model who has already appeared alongside him – discreetly but consistently – in several Grand Slam tournaments. First at Roland Garros, then at Wimbledon, always present in the stands to follow and support the world number one.

The confirmation, in short, came indirectly but eloquently. In an age when everything goes through social media, Sinner chose the opposite path: no posts, no public statements, just a personal, private image that nonetheless says a lot. And which tells of a new dimension for the South Tyrolean champion: that of a young man in love, who alongside the challenges and pressures of world tennis also allows himself space for his emotional life.
