Gennaro Gattuso sheds light on Federico Chiesa and recalls Giorgio Armani

Gennaro Gattuso spoke to Sky on the eve of his debut as coach of the national team: “On the human, tactical and professional aspect I have to congratulate the team, I could not imagine better. I have no time to get excited because there are so many pressures. Maybe a little bit of emotion will come at the referee’s whistle, but I am very focused on what we have to do: it’s a very difficult task, but we will try our best”.
“We always talk about a sense of belonging, we talk about being a team. Technique, tactics… But our history says that the collective and the desire to fight together, as a team, are part of our DNA. I found guys very charged and I saw many positive things: I think we are on the right path”.
Chapter Church: “There’was a willingness to summon him, but the boy wasn’t one hundred percent sure. He made that clear to me. For official competitions you need people loaded and ready. That Federico was left out of Liverpool’s Champions list, for me, means nothing. It’s up to him to work to convince his club’s coach to consider him again”.
Closing remarks on Giorgio Armani’s death: “A great loss, I offer my condolences to his family. We lost a great man, of class and quality. I met him at a basketball game, I was with Galliani. He loved sports”.
