Nothing to do. The dream of reaching the US Open final vanished at the most beautiful moment. Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini were eliminated in the semifinals by the pair formed by Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe. The Italian women surrendered in two sets: 6-4, 6-3 the match’s partials.

Unlike the previous matches, the two Paris gold medalists did not appear loose from the first bars of the match. Difficulty in serving and little understanding in the game all benefited the Dabrowski-Routliffe duo who took advantage of every opportunity to bring home points, sets and, finally, even the pass to the US Open final.

The bitterness remains in the mouths of the two blues who, after having won the third Slam semifinal of their careers (the first at the US Open), were unable to fulfill their dream of reaching the very final. Still, the satisfaction of another tournament played at the highest level remains, certifying a wonderful and winning understanding.

Gabriela Dabrowski and Erin Routliffe, in the tournament&#8217s last act, will face the Siniakova-Townsend pair, the No. 1 seed on the scoreboard and, surely, the big favorites to get their hands on the trophy. In the semifinals, the Siniakova-Townsend duo got rid of the pair formed by Veronika Kudermetova and Elise Mertens in two sets: 6-3, 7-6 the partials.
