Slovenia&#8217s European run but stopped in the quarterfinals, where reigning world champion Germany got the better of them 99-91. Despite 39 points scored by Luka Dončić, the Slovenian team was unable to contain the German offense led by Franz Wagner (23 points) and Dennis Schröder (20 points). A technical foul given to the Slovenian star early in the game affected his performance, forcing him to play more cautiously.

Luka Dončić himself, after his national team’s painful elimination, did not hold back: “I am angry, 100 percent angry. I should have done more in the 4th quarter, instead I forced several shots and made some bad decisions”, the Slovenian ace’s words.

The Los Angeles Lakers star pointed his finger at the referees: “I don&#8217t want to say much, but I got a technical after only two minutes for saying to a referee, come on… Something like that had never happened to me in my entire career”.

The NBA star proved his worth once again at the European Basketball Championships, where he led Slovenia to the quarterfinals with record-breaking performances. In the 84-77 victory over’Italy in the round of 16, Luka Dončić put up a monumental 42-point, 10-rebound performance, proving virtually unstoppable for the Italian defense.
