Athletics: Mattia Furlani aims for Worlds by being inspired by Jannik Sinner

We are less and less away from the start of the World Athletics Championships, scheduled in Tokyo from Sept. 13 to 21. After his gold in the World Indoor Championships in Nanjing and second place in the Diamond League, Mattia Furlani wants to make his voice heard in the rainbow event in Japan as well.

“For me it is a year of successes – admitted the Blue, in the words reported by Sky Sport -, with the gold at the World Indoor Championships, but also particular because I have worked a lot on the run-up and on my biological growth in the future projection. I arrive here with very good intentions, I am working well as shown also by the last race, the second place in the final of Diamond League in Zurich, and then it will be the platform that will speak”.

“In the qualification the aim is to save energy as much as possible – added the 20-year-old long distance runner -, achieve the measure in the first jumps to enter the final. The pool of opponents is very wide, the whole world is there: no one is missing, we are here to give our best”.

“In tennis Jannik Sinner is a great competitor, he inspired me a lot with his determination and passion. The World Cup in September is tough, it would be better in the middle of the schedule, but the goal is to be here at our best” concluded Furlani.
