World Cup, comfortable debut with Algeria for Italy

At Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, Manila metropolitan area, Italy made its debut in the men’s volleyball World Cup by easily beating Algeria 3-0. 25-13, 25-22, 25-17 were the scores of the sets, suffering only in the second partial, when the North Africans led until 21-17 before suffering an 8-1 setback.
For Italy 15 points from Michieletto, 13 from Bottolo and 11 from Romanò, for Algeria 11 from Dour and 10 from Ikken. Ferdinando De Giorgi’s national team will return to the court on Tuesday against Belgium for the second game of Group F of the World Cup hosted by the Philippines, while on Thursday it will be the turn of Ukraine.
