Davis Cup, there's Austria in the quarterfinals for Jannik Sinner and co.: full slate

It will be Austria that will face Italy in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Davis Cup, the first act of the Final Eight scheduled Nov. 18-23 at Bologna Fiere in the SuperTennis Arena. Jannik Sinner and teammates will thus face the lineup that easily beat Finland in the first round (4-0) before overcoming Hungary 3-2 in the second.
The Azzurri, the tournament’s No. 1 seed thanks to their success in last year’s edition (a historic encore of their 2023 victory), were already qualified for the Final Eight and were able to skip with both feet the qualifying round, held Sept. 12-14, which instead awarded Germany, Argentina, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, Spain and France.
In addition to Italy-Austria, the other quarterfinals will see France take on Belgium, the Czech Republic against Spain and finally Germany against Argentina. Should they advance to the round, the Azzurri led by captain Filippo Volandri and current world No. 2 Jannik Sinner will face the winner of France-Belgium. Possible only in the finals, then, will be the Carlos Alcaraz‘s Spain crossroads.
The Italian Davis Cup team boasts three successes in its history: the first was in 1976, when Adriano Panatta, Claudio Bertolucci, Corrado Barazzutti and Tonino Zugarelli beat Chile led by captain Nicola Pietrangeli; the second was instead in 2023, with Filippo Volandri at the helm and, in the field, Jannik Sinner, Lorenzo Musetti, Matteo Arnaldi, Lorenzo Sonego and Simone Bolelli; the third was finally won in 2024, still with Volandri at the helm, with Sinner, Musetti and Bolelli at the second success, Matteo Berrettini and Andrea Vavassori at the first.
