La Liga 2025-2026: Valencia-Athletic Bilbao, the probable formations

Saturday’s postponement of La Liga Day 5 pits Valencia and Athletic Bilbao against each other. Kickoff at 9 p.m. at the Mestalla. Both teams are on the hunt for redemption: the hosts are fresh from the drubbing with Barcelona (0-69, while the guests cashed in their first league loss to Alaves in the last round.

The hosts are preparing to take the field with a 4-2-3-1 with Danjuma as the only forward, supported by Rioja, Raba and Diego Lopez. In the midfield Guerra and Pepelu, defense headed by the Tarrega-Diakhaby pair.

Valverde will reintroduce his tried-and-true 4-2-3-1, but will have to do without Nico Williams again, stopped by a muscle injury. In his place will be Berenguer, with Iñaki Williams confirmed on the other lane and Sancet supporting Guruzeta in the role of trequartista.
