Inter, Cristian Chivu doesn’t mince words: "It mattered to win"

Inter winning again in Serie A, after the two consecutive defeats against Udinese and Juventus. On Sunday at the San Siro, the Nerazzurri got the better over Sassuolo 2-1, and Cristian Chivu did not go quietly. Although he still sees room for improvement for his team, in fact, the Romanian coach was satisfied with the achievement of the day’s goal.
“The important thing was to win, and in the end we succeeded – stressed Chivu at the end of the game, reached by ‘DAZN’ -. Our performance on the field was good, but the most positive note is the victory. It was what we needed. We also could have closed the game earlier, but the Sassuolo goalkeeper was having a great day. Then they scored, and a little bit’ we suffered”.
Chivu pointed out, however, that his Inter team can and should still grow: “I think we can do better, especially in terms of turning the ball over and attacking depth. However, the team had the right attitude, and I also saw some quality plays. Then attacking a team that defends low is never easy. Plus their goalkeeper prevented us from closing it down earlier. Still, I am happy, even that we suffered until the end”.
Titular played Francesco Pio Esposito, the protagonist of a level performance complete with a spectacular bicycle kick that did not, however, result in an Inter goal’s goal. Chivu nevertheless praised his striker: “He is giving on the field the answers we ask for. He immediately integrated into the group and is working great. I am very happy with his work, because he is also a guy who can handle pressure very well”.
