L'Inter also restarts in the league: 2-1 win over Sassuolo

Inter is coming out of the tunnel that had marked its recent path in Serie A and restarts with a victory at the San Siro against Sassuolo. Three crucial points, after the double knockout against Udinese and Juventus, but the Nerazzurri’s problems are not completely solved. To prove it there’s also the same result of the match, 2-1, to which are added some moments of fear for Cristian Chivu’s men.
The early match signs are mixed for Inter. In fact, if the very first two chances of the match bear the signature of Carlos Augusto, Sassuolo certainly does not stand idly by: so in the course of the first ten minutes Josep Martinez also comes to the fore, who closes the door first to Berardi and then to Laurentié. On the other side, Pio Esposito and Dimarco try, but it is the latter who has the luck: his is the lead at 14′, on a valuable assist from Sucic.
The match remains heated, with Berardi touching the equalizer and Muric taking big risks on Esposito’s pressing. Then Calhanoglu and Thuram misfired, imitated by the very inspired Esposito before halftime. Inter did not sink the blow, however, and Sassuolo stayed in the game. It is like that again at the start of the second half, with Barella inaccurate and Dumfries walled off. So it was Laurentié again who engaged Martinez, who repeated himself on Pinamonto after a new attempt by Esposito on the opposite side.
The same former Spezia man after the hour of play threatens to bring down San Siro with a spectacular bicycle kick, which, however, is opposed by the alert Muric. Chivu rotates men, as does Fabio Grosso for the guests. But everything happens in the final: at 81’81’ Carlos Augusto seems to close the game by beating the net on a personal initiative, helped also by Muharemovic’s slight deflection. But Sassuolo doesn’t let up, and at’84’ Cheddira exploits at best a brilliant cut by Berardi halves the gap. Inter would triple two minutes later, but the Var stops everything for offside. Inter trembled in the recovery for a late attempt by Berardi, but eventually won and moved back to -4 from momentary leaders Juventus.
