After Sunday&#8217s fourth-place finish in the 200 medley, Federico Bicelli took revenge in the 400 freestyle, winning the gold medal at the Paralympic Swimming World Championships being held in Singapore. The Brescian athlete from the Fiamme Azzurre also came close to his personal best, confirming that he is largely at ease in his favorite race.

“I am really happy with my race – commented Bicelli on the sidelines of a triumphant day for him -. This was one of the medals I wanted to win and bring home. The time is close to my personal best, 4’39”. After the first hundred meters I was fourth, then I moved into second, at the three hundred I went ahead and won”.

“Today I won by a good four seconds, I will retain the title of World Champion for at least two years. And so I am more than happy” added the world champion in the discipline, one of the standard bearers of the Italian team engaged in the Paralympic Swimming World Championships, hosted by the Singapore Sports Hub from Sept. 21-27, 2025.

Bicelli was not happy with the victory.

Bicelli had made no secret of his ambitions already on the eve of the rainbow competition: “I want to bring home medals in ‘my’ disciplines: 100 style, 400 style and hopefully also in the 100 backstroke and the 2 mixed – he had declared before departing for the Southeast Asian country. &#8220It has been a very busy summer, I have just been training. I declined all events that could divert my attention from training and competitions: this World Championship after the’Olympics is very important”.
