Francesco Acerbi reignites controversy with Luciano Spalletti
From the studios of Channel 5 Francesco Acerbi has reignited the controversy with Luciano Spalletti. The Inter defender had had some rift with the coach in June, when he refused a call-up for Norway-Italy.
“I refused the summons only for that match. Spalletti had not called me for a year and, after what he had said, it did not seem right to say yes to him. I have never refused the national team and it is impossible to say that I would not want it anymore, Gattuso will make his choices”.
At the time Spalletti, responding to a journalist’s question, had drawn attention to the player’s age. Acerbi did not take it well and divided the fans by deciding not to respond to the summons of the then ct.
“I demand respect. And if this respect is lacking from those who should lead a group, then I prefer to step aside – had written the defender on Instagram . I am not looking for alibis or favors but I need serenity to continue a path. I have always given everything for the Azzurri jersey, but now it is right to take a step back.
