Lorenzo Musetti ready to break the fast: the Carrara native isn’t going around it

After a muted start, with the round of 16 against Dino Prizmic reached after a match that turned out to be more difficult than expected, Lorenzo Musetti picked up the pace in Chengdu, beating first Nikoloz Basilashvili and then Alexander Shevchenko to reach the final of the ongoing ATP 250 at the Sichuan International Tennis Center.
On the sidelines of the match against the Kazakh Musetti did not mince words, putting the opponent in his sights as he stands between himself and his third career individual achievement on the professional circuit, the first since 2022. “I am here with only one goal, to win the tournament– said the Carrara-based tennis player -I will be thinking about the final from the start”.
The opponent, Chile’s Alejandro Tabilo, is within reach on paper, given the 103 ranking positions that divide him from the Blue, number 9 in the world. Nothing is a foregone conclusion, however, as Tabilo, to reach the final, defeated in’order such good tennis players as Jordan Thompson, Luciano Darderi, Christopher O’Connell and Brandon Nakashima.
“It will be a tricky challenge, I am ready to give the best of myself – sentenced the Olympic bronze medalist in Paris 2024 -. The matches here are not easy, there are tennis players who hit hard on concrete. I am happy with the’mental approach I had going into this tournament, today then went very well because I played relaxed and made few errors”.
