Tokyo ATP drawboard: Matteo Berrettini in the side of Carlos Alcaraz

The main draw for the Tokyo ATP 500, scheduled for Sept. 24-30, was made this morning. Leading the seeding is Carlos Alcaraz, while the No. 2 seed will be Taylor Fritz, as Jannik Sinner will play the Beijing ATP 500, starting Sept. 25.
Among the Azzurri in the Tokyo main draw is Matteo Berrettini, who ended up in Carlos Alcaraz’s side. The Roman will make his debut with Spaniard Jaume Munar: if he wins, he could face Casper Ruud, number 4 in the seeding, while he would have to go all the way to the semifinals to cross the Murcian.
The Italian will also be in the main draw.
Luciano Darderi will also be at the start of the Japanese tournament: the Italo-Argentine has been drawn in the lower part of the draw and will make his debut with home favorite Yoshihito Nishioka and then possibly take on No. 6 seed Hugo Humbert in the second round.
But that’s not the end of the story: two more Italian tennis players could arrive from the qualifying draw. Matteo Arnaldi won the derby with Luca Nardi (6-0 6-7 6-3) and will take on Marton Fucsovics in the deciding round, while Mattia Bellucci beat Yasutaka Uchiyama (7-6 5-7 7-5) and will face Ethan Quinn in the last round.
