Europa League 2025-2026: Freiburg-Basel, the likely lineups

Freiburg’s Europa-Park Stadion will host the first-day Europa League group stage match between Freiburg and Basel. Kickoff will be at 9 p.m. The Germans gained access to the tournament thanks to their fifth-place finish in the Bundesliga, while the Swiss were relegated to the Europa League after their defeat in the Champions League playoffs against Copenhagen.

Freiburg is expected to take the field with 4-2-3-1: Holer will be the offensive reference supported in the three-quarter by Grifo, Manzambi and Beste, while Eggestein and Osterhage will act in midfield. In defense Ginter will partner Lienhart in the center. The only absentee is Kyereh.

Frei will go for the same module with Salah, Shaqiri and Otele behind Ajeti’s only point. Midfield dike formed by Metinho and Leroy, in defense Barisic will flank Adjetey in the center. Out are Traore and van Breemen.
