Beppe Marotta holds on to Cristian Chivu and calls for a new stadium

Inter Milan president Beppe Marotta has been awarded an honorary degree in “Marketing and Global Markets” by the’Bicocca University of Milan: “For me it is an extremely exciting day. In recent years, I have very often received awards and recognition, but this is something unique, extraordinary and unforgettable. I would like to thank the university but also the many friends and colleagues present, such as my first president Guido Borghi. The new ownership of Inter, represented here by Katherine Ralph, has given me confidence and culmination to my career: to become president of Inter, through a path like mine, is something exceptional, I feel it deeply in my soul’

The future of San Siro was also mentioned on the sidelines: “With sensitivity and intelligence, I hope the administrators can understand that the city needs a new, modern stadium. We had to withdraw from organizing the Champions League final. Right now Milan is out of the candidate cities to represent Italy in the European Championships 2032. I hope that there are no foreclosures, everything must be done with the utmost transparency, but both Milan and Inter guarantee this transparency. I hope that this long-standing problem will be solved as soon as possible because it is a need for everyone”.

“I hope that politics and institutions, with the Ministry of Sports, can guarantee that all kids can play and do sports for free. The school system must guarantee it”.

Closing on Chivu: “Today we have a great coach and we hold on to him very tightly. He is not a kid, he is 44 years old, he embodies the Inter sense of belonging. He has been six years in our youth ranks and is very professionally prepared. The negative judgments I have heard from people who do not know him are superficial and do not correspond to the truth. There would not be the slightest reason for a running change, in fact we are all very happy with him. It is also not a matter of patience, because you cannot evaluate a coach after a month and a half, but we can see him on a daily basis: he has a modern method, great skills, he values all the players, he has a great work culture, and he is improving every day. I am absolutely optimistic also because intelligence is his main characteristic and this always leads to excellence”.
