Lorenzo Musetti has qualified for the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 tournament in Beijing: at the China Open, the Italian tennis player won in two sets, with a score of 6-3, 6-3, against Frenchman Adrien Mannarino, and in the next round he will face US player Learner Tien.

The Carrara-based tennis player disposed of the match in one hour and 24 minutes.

Musetti won the first set with ease, while in the second set after a break-counterbreak in the beginning the Azure took the lead, closing with ease.

The Italian had ended up in the storm in recent days after an outburst during his match against Mpetshi, when annoyed he had blurted out on the court: “They always cough ‘these Chinese pricks…. They cough every 3 seconds”. Musetti had later apologized on social media: “I deeply regret it and feel deep remorse. I have always admired the Chinese people and really appreciate playing in your country. I have been returning to China since 2018 and always feel very welcome”.

In contrast, Flavio Cobolli’s run came to a halt, defeated decisively by Tien 6-3, 6-2 on a decidedly bad day. It is precisely the American who will challenge Musetti for a place in the semifinals.
