Semi-final goal: After his victory in the round of 16 against Terence Atmane, Jannik Sinner returns to the court in Beijing in the quarterfinal match of the ATP 500 China Open against Fabian Marozsan of Hungary. Following his loss to Carlos Alcaraz at the US Open, the Blue decided to change something in his game and tested himself in the match against Atmane.

Sinner, who made it to the finals in Beijing last season, is aiming for his third title of the season, but more importantly, he is focusing on changes to his style of play to try to challenge world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the future.

The match against Marozsan is scheduled for Monday, September 29, at a time yet to be determined. Against the Hungarian, the Blue has only one precedent, favorable: the two faced each other in 2024 in Halle, and Sinner won in three sets, then won the grass tournament in Germany.

“I’m trying to do new things on the court, and I’m spending enough mental strength on that, however, we have to be careful not to do too much”, Sinner said after the win against Atmane. “Right now I am trying to do, let’80% of my usual tennis and 20% new things; in my opinion I should get to 90-95% of what I am and try to change a 5%”.
