The more-than-positive day for Italian basketball in the Euroleague, which began with Olimpia Milano&#8217s external success in the home of the Red Star, ends with another prestigious success, that of Virtus Bologna against Real Madrid at the Paladozza: 74-68 the score in favor of the Black Vu, led on the scoreboard by Edwards’s 14 points, Niang’s 12 and Vildoza’s 11.

The Virtus coach, on the sidelines of his team&#8217s brilliant evening, explained the key to the success that opened the 2025-2026 Euroleague for the Felsinei: “This first game was an important victory for us, against a high-level team. What ensured the success was the ability to raise the pace and level after a difficult start to the game, after we approached the first 7 minutes softly”.

“This outburst was possible thanks to good defense, playing with patience and moving the ball: it is a good victory” said again the Montenegrin coach, who arrived in Bologna in early December 2024 to replace Luca Banchi (now the national team’s technical commissioner) and remained at Virtus after winning the Scudetto in June.

Virtus Bologna, which started the season with a loss in the Supercup semifinals at the’overtime against Olimpia Milano, will play one more game in the Euroleague, Friday, Oct. 3, in Valencia, before starting the defense of the Tricolor won last year: Monday, Oct. 6, is the first championship game scheduled for the Vu Nere, engaged at home against Napoli.
