When Jannik Sinner plays in Beijing: background with Learner Tien

Jannik Sinner will once again return to the court at the China Open 2025 tennis championships: the Italian, credited with the No. 1 seed, will face in the men’s singles main draw final the U.S.’s Learner Tien on the Capital Group Diamond on tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct. 1.
The match will be the second on the schedule starting at 05:30 Italian time, after the men’s doubles final, but will be played no earlier than 8:00 Italian time in any case. The match between the Italian and the U.S. will be the first ever on the major circuit: the two have never faced each other before, so the previous record stands at 0-0.
For Sinner, this will be his fifth final of the season, following successes in Rotterdam, Miami, and Wimbledon and the final he lost in Toronto. The South Tyrolean is seeking his fourth title of the year and the 20th of his career.
Tien, on the other hand, class of 2005, made an astonishing run in Beijing and is in the first ATP final of his career: an already historic achievement that confirms his entry among the most interesting prospects of the new American generation.
